Gosh, where the hell is Spring? Wasn't the first day March 21st? Why am I still wearing 4 layers?! Nevertheless, a few days ago I wore a skirt as soon as the temperature rose above 45 degrees. I know I wasn't the only one.
I love camo and bright colors. So I decided to just combine the two in one outfit. You're probably asking yourself how does this work? Here are three reasons:
1. Proportions - I have a straight, or athletic body type. So I have to be mindful of silhouettes, avoiding anything that is boxy and choose items that draw attention to the right parts of my body. I love this camo jacket for the drawstrings at the waist. This will help accentuate my small waist. I love pencil skirts and this one from J.Crew was perfect for the color and length that hits slightly above my knees. The chambray shirt is great because of the pockets at the bust, which draws attention to my small IBT (if you know that reference, we're kindred spirits).
2. Accessories - I kept my accessories simple for the most part, what you'll probably notice about me is I love a statement necklace. Here I choose a floral choker (from Stella & Dot). The colors sit well against the chambray top that helps in breaking up the neon pencil skirt and camo jacket. Consider chambray my "neutral". I kept my sneakers simple with this white pair from The Gap.
3. Confidence - This should probably be number 1. But look, it takes some balls to wear this and I totally understand (lol). Confidence really is a big component for a lot of the things I wear. So maybe you cannot commit to wearing this color combination like this. Instead, you can wear camo slim leg jeans with a jean jacket and a bright green camo clutch. The goal is to have fun and try new things, your way!
