These are the tools that Tamera Darden used to manifest her very own, self proclaimed, “brand alchemy” in a Harlem studio in the summer of 2015. After six years rising through the ranks at a large retail corporation in New York, the Howard graduate made the pivotal decision of choosing her own vision of happiness by walking away from the guaranteed checks of her 9 to 5 to pursue her creative passions. While she was not sure of her next steps, her years in corporate had given her a firm understanding of the life she did not want and as such, she used this as a guide to define her life on her own terms. Grounding her every move in the roots of two basic questions, “how do I want to feel in my business?” and “what do I want my business to look and feel like?” Tamera took the insight from her answers, along with her amazing ability to reassess and pivot in a moment’s notice, to begin sowing the seeds for what would be her very own visual content strategy and development agency, Darden Creative.

Last weekend I hosted the 2nd annual Find Your Light Creative Conference and it certainly fed my soul. The second time around is always the sweetest and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience.
The Find Your Light Creative Conference is a one day conference covering topics that help uplift and motivate millennial creative entrepreneurs of color. The experience is certainly for individuals who want to elevate their visual content and leverage social media for their business, but most importantly, for people who want to live a purpose driven life.
Planning to attend conferences is a great way to expand your knowledge and network in your industry, but it's easier said than done. What's even harder than finding the time and money to attend events? Hosting your own. Tamera Darden is the creator and host of the Find Your Light conference, an event that'll teach women of color creatives how to create a visual strategy for their brands, amongst other skills. Darden is the brains behind Darden Creative, a visual strategy, and development agency. Darden has created visual content for brands like Macy's Inc., Harper's Bazaar and more. Tamera is taking the skills she's developed over the years to create an event that inspires creative women to design visual content and style photography they can get excited about.
You know the feeling you get when you just know deep down in your gut that although you’ve had little to no interaction with someone, whether its a classmate, a co-worker or even a person from an Instagram account you follow–you just KNOW that you’d get along with one another and connect with each other on so many levels?
